CHEYENNE - Prospective local employer, Help Desk NOW, met Tuesday with
local economic developers and elected officials in a visit described as
"successful" by LEADS CEO Randy Bruns.
"The company is very interested in the former Trilegiant building. It
could meet their needs very well," said Bruns. The challenge, according
to Bruns and LEADS Vice President Tim Thorson, will be to demonstrate
that Cheyenne can meet the company's needs for help desk agents.
According to Thorson, "if people want an opportunity to work for this
company, they need to get their application or resume in now."
Interested applicants were encouraged to visit the Cheyenne Workforce
Center at 1510 East Pershing Boulevard or call the center at 777-3700.
The company launched an advertising campaign last week in the Wyoming
Tribune Eagle. At the same time, news broke of the company's interest in
Cheyenne. The story, appearing in the Wyoming Tribune Eagle, included an
interview with Help Desk NOW's Chief Executive Officer Fred Riek in
which Riek made it clear that the decision in favor of Cheyenne was not
final.
"The company needs to know they have workers. It's not enough to provide
studies or statistics. They need real names of real workers who are
interested in a real career," said Thorson.
According to the company's employment ads, the jobs offer a regular wage
of $8.50 an hour, benefits including medical insurance and a positive
working environment providing technical assistance and customer service
to inbound callers. Thorson described the job as "not sales and not
outbound" and different from jobs previously available at Qwest or
Trilegiant, which closed Cheyenne operations in 2004.
Governor Dave Freudenthal, Cheyenne LEADS, the Wyoming Department of
Workforce Services, Laramie County Community College, Mayor Jack Spiker,
Cheyenne City Councilman Tom Segrave met at various times with the
company on Wednesday.
"The company was very positive about Cheyenne. They really appreciated
the community-wide welcome they received here," said Bruns.
