CHEYENNE - Prospective call center employer, Help Desk NOW, will conduct
job fairs in Cheyenne Tuesday, May 17th through Thursday, May 19th.
With over 400 jobs hanging on the decision, turn out at these job fairs
will allow Help Desk NOW to decide whether Cheyenne will be home to the
company's new U.S. call center, according to Tim Thorson, Vice President
of Cheyenne LEADS. LEADS has been working with the company since last
August.
The job fair will kick off with a presentation by Help Desk NOW CEO,
Fred Riek, at noon on Tuesday at the Cheyenne Depot. Job fairs will take
place Tuesday evening, all day Wednesday and Thursday morning at the
Cheyenne Workforce Center at 1510 East Pershing. Riek will give
presentations and company representatives will be available to visit
with applicants, assist with applications and answer questions about the
company.
"This is the first time LEADS and the Department of Workforce Services
have worked this closely to connect our workforce with an economic
development client. It's a strong partnership," said Thorson.
According to the company's employment ads, the jobs will offer a regular
wage of $8.50 an hour, benefits including medical insurance and a
positive working environment providing technical assistance and customer
service to inbound callers. Thorson described the job as "not sales and
not outbound" and different from jobs previously available at Qwest or
Trilegiant, which closed Cheyenne operations in 2004.
Interested applicants are encouraged to visit the Cheyenne Workforce
Center at 1510 East Pershing Boulevard or call the center for more
information at 777-3700. A detailed schedule of the job fairs can be
found in the Wyoming Tribune Eagle employment section.
