Cheyenne LEADS and Laramie Economic Development
Corporation are teaming up to attend and exhibit at the 2nd Annual BIXPO
Conference in Loveland, Colorado. BIXPO will take place at The Ranch at
the Budweiser Events Center on Wednesday, September 13 and Thursday,
September 14.
LEDC and LEADS both attended the 1st Annual BIXPO in
2005 in collaboration with the Wyoming Business Council. Due to the
success of that event, both organizations have teamed up to increase the
visibility of Southeastern Wyoming to our Northern neighbors by having a
separate presence from the Wyoming Business Council. “Having five
different local and state economic development organizations represented
in four booths insures that Wyoming and our communities will be
extremely visible at BIXPO. Partnering with LEDC makes good sense to
make the region more visible to expanding and relocating Colorado
companies- a goal of both organizations,” stated Randy Bruns, Chief
Executive Officer of Cheyenne LEADS.
“BIXPO is the largest, most comprehensive business and
technology conference and exposition in Northern Colorado,” according to
the Northern Colorado Business Report. With more than 200 business
exhibitors, LEDC and LEADS will not be alone. Other economic
development groups from Wyoming will also be attending BIXPO, hoping to
get expanding Colorado businesses to look North. Besides LEDC and LEADS
representing Laramie and Cheyenne, respectively, the Wyoming Business
Council will represent the State of Wyoming and Casper Area Economic
Development Alliance (CAEDA) will be representing Casper. Other
business exhibitors include First National Bank, Partners of Laramie
County, AmeriQuote, Hewlett-Packard Co, Chase, TEK Systems, 3T Systems,
Sam’s Club, Institute of Business & Medical Careers, Colorado State
University – College of Business, A.G. Edwards, Poudre Valley Hospital
and Qwest, along with multiple other businesses.
Along with the exhibitors a two day speaking series
will also be conducted at BIXPO. Five speakers have been announced for
the event. Day one consists of a range of business knowledge from
success in entrepreneurship to corporate executives; these include Ralph
G. Trombetta, Lucinda Yates and Lisa Ford. Day two consists of Terry
“Moose” Miller an top executive from Southwest Airlines and Steven D.
Levitt an author and economist.
The Laramie Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) is
a non-profit public/private sector group that was established in 1985.
Initially, its primary mission was to recruit existing businesses from
other communities; however, in 1999, the mission changed. Today the LEDC
not only works to attract and retain new businesses, it also facilitates
the expansion and development of existing businesses in order to achieve
sustainable growth and improve the economic well being of Laramie and
Albany County citizens.
Cheyenne LEADS is a private, not-for-profit economic
development organization serving as the economic development entity for
the City of Cheyenne and Laramie County, Wyoming. LEADS garners its
operating funding from more than 300 corporate and individual
dues-paying members and contracts with the City of Cheyenne, Laramie
County, and the Cheyenne-Laramie County Economic Development Joint
Powers Board. LEADS can assist non-retail businesses in all phases of
relocation or expansion in the area.
